July Favourites

Hello everyone, I hope you are all enjoying your summer. I can't believe it is August already, I am slightly dreading next week as I am getting my AS results, but hopefully I will do okay *fingers crossed*. Anyway, enough rambling and let's get down to business. I tried out a lot of new products in July that I loved, as well as rediscovering a couple of oldies...

Dior  Shimmer Powder- Rose Diamond
I had lusted after this for ages, but as it was sold out everywhere I gave up scouring the web for it, until I happened to stumble across it on eBay. As soon as it arrived on my doorstep i fell in love. The varying shades of pink blend together beautifully as an all over blush, or the lighter shades add a gorgeous highlight to the tops of cheekbones. My skin has sported a rosy sheen for the past few weeks now, and it will continue to for a long time.

I picked this up a couple of months ago as I had a money off voucher for No7 and i knew that I needed a new moisturiser. I wasn't looking for a particularly fancy product as my skin had had a bit of a breakout and I didn't want to overload it with a whole bunch of different ingredients. This does exactly what it says on the tin - hydrating the skin, leaving it soft and smooth, without adding shine. It acts as a great base for makeup, and i love it so much that I recently purchased the night cream!

Another skincare favorite of mine is this gigantic bottle of cleansing water from Garnier. I love Micellar waters as they are so gentle on the skin, yet effectively remove even the most stubborn of makeup, including gel eyeliner and waterproof mascara. I have been enjoying using this as a pre-cleanse to remove the majority of my makeup before using my normal cleanser, and it has made a huge difference to my skincare routine. The 400ml bottle will also last ages. Bonus!

Lip balms are my new addiction, as they are seriously quick and easy to apply, yet add just as much colour as a lipstick or lipgloss. This offering from Rimmel has been my favourite for the past month, as the glossy, vivid red-pink colour packs a serious punch. I will no doubt be adding more of these to my collection soon.

Another favourite lip product from Rimmel, this time the Kate Moss lipstick in 101. When I first bought this, I didn't immediately love it, as I wasn't sure if the pink entirely suited my skin tone. However, I gave it a second chance and I am so glad I did. I have been swiping just a little bit of this over my lips and blending it out to create more of a subtle stain of colour, that gives a 'your lips but better' look. This works with any makeup look and I will certainly continue wearing it.

This is a fairly recent favourite for me, but as soon as I used it I loved it. It is a beautiful shimmery pinky powder, that can be used as a makeup setter, highlighter or radiance booster. It doesn't look cakey on the skin, it simply adds a glowy finish to the whole complexion. What's more, the packaging is absolutely gorgeous!

I purchased this last year as part of the Summer collection and used it a couple of times before becoming bored and moving on to a different shade. However I rediscovered it this summer and I am so glad I did. It is a pretty pink-based, coral hue that seems to perk up any outfit due to the subtle shimmer running through it. It is perfect on both fingers and toes in the summer, though I will try and make it work as we approach autumn too.

When it comes to applying my makeup, I am all about the products that take no time at all to apply, as I am sometimes in a rush or just a tad bit lazy. One sweep of this warm, antique gold across the lids and I am good to go, as this eyeshadow seems to change colour as it is blended into the crease, meaning I don't need a second eyeshadow to achieve that look. Paired with bronzed skin and pink lips, it is the perfect shade for summer.

Have you tried any of these products? What have you been loving this month?

Grey Hat- Asos
Black Satchel- River Island

Who can resist a bargain, especially in the form of a gorgeous floral dress from Primark. I just wrap a skinny tan belt around it to pull the whole loom together, whilst pairing it with a rolled brim bowler hat, little satchel, a pair of frilly socks and buckled cut out boots.

My Handbag Beauty Essentials

When it comes to packing my handbag, everything and the kitchen sink seems to end up in there. Yet, I have managed to streamline my makeup bag down to just the essentials needed for makeup emergencies and touch-ups on the go.

I think it is safe to say that a translucent powder is probably the most essential beauty product to carry in your handbag, especially during the summer months, when the weather is hotter and a shiny face is just that little bit more likely. I carry the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder  in my makeup bag, as well as the Real Techniques Powder Brush to control shine without adding extra colour or coverage to the face.

A product that everybody probably has floating around their handbag is a lip balm, something that I couldn't live without. My favourite is the Burt's Bees Beeswax lip balm, yet any will do a good job at moisturising your lips throughout the day.

Something that is not an essential, but I still like to carry around is a mascara, purely for the day-to-night situation that sometimes occurs. I like to carry the Benefit They're Real Mascara as it lengthens, curls and volumises lashes to create a false lash effect.

You never know when you might need to freshen up, so a deodorant is also an essential in my handbag. I am constantly changing the one I use, but at the moment my favourite is the Dove Go Fresh Pomegranate Deodorant, as it smells so summery and fresh.

I always like to carry a hand cream in my handbag, as I feel it is a necessity for everyone to carry. This Soap & Glory Hand Food is the perfect size to fit snugly into you handbag, and the smell is amazing.

To avoid any eyebrow emergencies, I always carry a pair of tweezers around with me, as you just never know when you might need them. In my makeup bag are these Ted Baker tweezers, but any will get the job done.

Lastly in my makeup bag is a comb, as I would be incredibly lucky if my hair was to stay in place all day. What with the rain and wind that so often ruins my hair, a comb is essential in my handbag, in order to make it look somewhat sleek and styled again.

I hope you have enjoyed this peek into my handbag beauty essentials. What do you carry in your handbag? Do you use any of these?

OOTD- Tropical Printed Trousers

Grey Vest- New Look
Printed Trousers- Topshop
Sandals- New Look
Hat- H&M

I was drawn to these trousers as soon as i saw them, as monochrome prints are one of my favourite things to wear. These are super stylish and surprisingly comfy: a win-win combination everytime.  Paired with a simple grey vest, my well-loved sandals(that go with everything), and black fedora, this is an easy way to inject a bit of monochrome into summer without it looking drab.

Summer Lips and Tips

As soon as summer rolls around, my lips and nails sport brighter, more vibrant hues. With that being said, here is my round up of my top picks for your pout and talons in the summer months...

For a sheer wash of colour, Bourjois Shine Edition in "Famous Fuchsia" and Maybelline Baby Lips in "Pink Punch" are my favourites. They are so wearable, as with just one glide you are good to go, as well as being super hydrating. If you want a more heavy duty, vivid look however, Rimmel is your best friend. The Moisture Renew in "In Love With Ginger" is a beautiful orange-toned shade, that is highly pigmented and glossy.  Kate Moss Lasting Finish in "110" is a bright pinky based red, that, although being matte, is perfect for summer due to the instant brightness is gives to the face.

As for nails, Barry M hits the nail(geddit?) on the head everytime, especially with their Gelly Hi shine formulas. "Blueberry", a pale, blue shade, that is my personal favourite, and "Lychee", which is a kind of taupe, nude colour have got my vote, yet the whole collection is great. For a slightly more classic look, Essie "Snap Happy" has you covered, giving that elegant appearance to your nails, yet being slightly orange-toned, making it instantly summer appropriate. For those lucky enough to be heading on holiday this year, look no further than Models Own Polish for Tans collection. I have "Shades", a pretty neon-pastel pink, that would compliment sunkissed skin beautifully.

So there are my top picks to make your lips and nails ready for summer. What are your favourite shades for Summer? Do you like any of these?

Current Beauty Favourites- Part 2

So I'm back with part two of my current beauty favourites, this time discussing the hair and body products that I have been loving for the past few months. Let's get stuck in, shall we...

Now hand cream is not the most interesting of topics to talk about, yet it is product that most of us use on a day to day basis. Whilst perusing the aisles of boots not so long ago, I stumbled across this and, needing a new hand cream, popped it into my basket. It does exactly what it says on the tin, moisturising without leaving a sticky residue on your hands. The mango scent is perfect for summer as well!

Soap & Glory are probably my favourite bath and body range, with this product being one of my favourites from the brand. The fresh citrus-y, lime scent leaves me feeling energised and woken up in the mornings, whilst the huge 500ml bottle lasts for ages. Definitely one to pick up next time if you love citrus scents as much as me.

For those with sensitive skin like me, Aveeno ticks all the right boxes. It is soothing and calming on the skin, without being irritable. It is quite thick and rich but absorbs quickly, so you don't have to wait around for too long for it to sink in. This is the perfect moisturiser for those with dry skin, and as it also contains oatmeal, is soooo good for you skin too!

After a recent trip to the hairdressers, in which my split ends were snipped away, I decided to try and keep them at bay, and protect my hair a bit more, as I use heat on it pretty often. Herbal Essences is a haircare brand that I trust, so I picked this up. It contains raspberry and silk, leaving my hair noticeably smoother and split end free. It has been a staple of mine in the shower, and I am sure it will continue to be so.

As my hair is naturally on the flat side, I try and add as much volume as possible in my haircare routine. I massage this mousse into the roots of my damp hair after washing, and then blow dry to give my hair volume and bounce in an instant. Unlike other mousses, this one doesn't go crispy or leave my hair looking oily after a few hours. My hair looks fuller and thicker after using this, and so will definitely stay in my hair routine.

I have tried a fair few hairsprays over the years, yet this is the only one I would repurchase. It is not sticky or crispy, yet holds curls for hours, even on freshly washed hair. A light spray over the hair is all you need to set your hair in place for the rest of the day. I am definitely going to continue using this over the next few months.

So that's all of my current beauty favourites of the past few months done and dusted. I can't to discover some more firm favourites in my collection!
Have you used any of these products? What did you think?
